Supercomputing Exploration for R&D Innovation

The aims of this program are as follows :

  • Supporting great scientific research requires 5PF and higher resources

  • Supporting data-based research, such as artificial intelligence, and group research

  • Increasing research efficiency by supporting large scale computational resources

  • Expanding support for researchers who generate outstanding research results

Free resources are provided through the Supercomputing Exploration for R&D Innovation (SERI) which is processed through the following steps: the call for applications, peer reviews, and announcement for the selected proposals. The program consists of strategic sections to solve various problems including massive computation, innovative research, national projects and so on. Resources are allocated according to the policy ruled in terms of the National High Performance Computing Promotion Plan.

Grand Challenge Large-scale computing resources support various R&D projects
◼(Large-scale) A project that requires a scale of more than 100,000 CPU cores for a single job (only support dedicated, namely exclusive, queue,             1,500 nodes per project within 3-months)
◼(Medium-scale) Projects that are larger scale than Creative Research (option to choose)
- dedicated (exclusive) queue : 500 nodes per project within 3-months
- normal queue : maximum of 171 account-units per project for a year
※ Grand Challenge is only available for the NURION Resource
Creative Research Projects aim at conducting R&D in computational science, manufacturing innovation, artificial intelligence and so on, utilizing high-performance computing (up to a maximum of 50 account-units for a year per project)

* Supporting users on an account-unit (Conversion values are applied to the node-hour for each system. NURION-KNL: 6,400 node-hours/account, NURION-SKL: 3,200 node-hours/account, NEURON: 596 node-hours/account)
