-- GLORIAD (GLObal RIng Network for Advanced Applications Development) is the first round-the-world high-performance networks jointly established by Korea, China, United States, Russia, Canada, the Netherlands 5 nordic countries with 10/40Gbps optical networking tools that improve networked collaboration with e-Science and Grid applications. GLORIAD provides more than a network; it provides a stable, persistent means of facilitating cooperation between nations.

-- Korea joined the GLORIAD as the fourth core member, and trans-Pacific link (Hong Kong-Daejeon-Seattle) is now operational with 10Gbps as of August 1, 2005. The multi-national GLORIAD program will actively encourage and coordinate applications across multiple disciplines and provide for sharing such scientific resources as databases, instrumentation, computational services, software, etc.
Ministry of Education Science and Technology of Korea generously funded GLORIAD-KR project.

-- GLORIAD is connected as follows: Daejeon (Korea) - Seattle (USA) - Calgary (Canada) -Chicago (USA) - Amsterdam (the Netherlands) - Stockholm (Sweden) - Moscow, Novosibirsk (Russia) - Beijing, Hong Kong (China) -Daejeon (Korea).
Korea had established the connection between Hong Kong and Seattle with 10Gbps. Korea opened the new era of 11-country Big GLORIAD.

-- Key application areas benefiting from the Korea-provided network service include High Energy Physics, Astronomy, Bio-informatics, Earth Systems, ITER, HVEM, Medical Sciences and Grid Computing etc..
